2026 Poultry Protein & Fat Seminar to Address Operational, Workforce and Emerging Industry Challenges

Poultry rendering professionals will explore the latest operational, regulatory and workforce issues affecting the industry at U.S. Poultry & Egg Association’s (USPOULTRY) upcoming Poultry Protein & Fat Seminar, sponsored by USPOULTRY and the Poultry Protein & Fat Council (PPFC). The program, to be held Oct. 8-9 in Nashville, Tenn., will bring together industry experts to share practical strategies for improving plant performance, strengthening safety and addressing emerging challenges across poultry rendering operations.

The seminar will cover a broad range of topics, including regulatory developments, best practices, operation and maintenance for presses and cookers, recruiting and retaining employees, preventive maintenance through vibration analysis, supply chain control, and ingredient traceability and safety in rendering plants. Attendees will also hear a panel discussion on artificial intelligence, automation and system controls, as well as a session on dissolved air flotation treatment, handling and disposal.

“Rendering operations are continually evolving, and this seminar gives industry professionals an opportunity to learn from one another while staying current on the issues that directly affect their facilities,” said Michael Fairbairn, vice president of protein conversion at Fieldale Farms Corporation, and program committee chair. “From equipment reliability and workforce challenges to safety, regulatory requirements and new technologies, the program focuses on practical information attendees can take back to their operations and put to use.”

The program planning committee includes Colin Acedo, Pilgrim’s; Hal Davis, Darling Ingredients Inc.; Anthony Seidel, Simmons Foods; Dr. Katelyn Bennett, Pilgrim’s; and Michael Fairbairn, Fieldale Farms Corporation and program committee chair.

USPOULTRY and PPFC members can register at a discounted rate. Attendance is limited to rendering companies that are members of USPOULTRY and PPFC. Representatives from non-member rendering companies are not eligible to attend, and membership in PPFC requires approval by the Council.
