USPOULTRY Accepting Preproposals for Spring 2025 Research Competition

USPOULTRY and the USPOULTRY Foundation are now accepting preproposals for the 2025 Spring Research Competition from colleges, universities and research facilities. The deadline for submission is Nov. 1. Research proposals are reviewed and considered for funding twice annually, in the spring and fall. A preproposal consists of a one-page summary outlining the potential research project. The Foundation Research Advisory Committee, which includes industry professionals, will evaluate these preproposals and invite full proposals that align with current research priorities.

A new list of research priorities, which is updated every two years, is available on the USPOULTRY website. The current list of research priorities includes goals and objectives for the following categories: animal welfare, breeder management (turkeys and pullets), meat bird management, commercial egg production, diseases, environmental management, food safety, hatchery management, nutrition, processing, and employee safety and health. Visit uspoultry.org for complete instructions and deadlines to submit a preproposal.

Preproposals are also welcome for emerging issues not included in the priority list. These will be assessed based on the strength of their justification for addressing the identified research need. Funding decisions for selected projects will be made in April 2025.

USPOULTRY and its Foundation operate a comprehensive research program incorporating all phases of poultry and egg production and processing. Since the inception of the research program, USPOULTRY has reinvested more than $36 million into the industry in the form of research grants. More than 50 universities and federal and state facilities have received grants over the years.
